Equestrian Fitness
I am a work in testament to my belief in specialised fitness programmes to aid horsemanship
skills. Having learnt to ride as a child and carried on through my teens into adulthood, I
managed to build up a whole unbalanced muscle system due to the simple fact that my horse was
stronger on the right rein than the left, so I sat and rode unbalanced for many years. This
only came to my attention when I had sold my horses in my mid twenties and took up martial arts
instead.
It has taken years for me to stretch myself back out, and build up my muscles back to a
synchronised mass. It has also taken me the last 3 years to learn to ride in a balanced
manner (this has taken a lot of being shouted at by my wonderful teacher Peter Howard).
But it is worth it and I have gained a lot of experience from the pain!
We spend hours and days and week schooling our horses in a balanced manner but we don't think
that we are as vital a part of the process but we certainly are. There are lots of differing
factors we can work on to improve not only your riding, but your performance in harmony with
your horse and help you improve your riding goals.
The final plus from this list is that you will be amazed how much better you will feel in general.
Walking taller, feeling stronger, fitter and lighter in your step.
I use various techniques in improving your physical needs, sometime I will refer you to an
Osteopath or Physiotherapist in order to completely tailor your desired outcome to perfection.
I have also (successfully) used a hypnotherapist too.
